About the Department

The Department of International Trade and Business aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for careers in internationaly operating enterprises. The department educates personnel and managers who will work in the financial affairs, finance, production, personnel, marketing, sales, administrative affairs, human resources, foreign trade, and other departments of international enterprises that operate in the global market and account for a significant share of the world economy. Within this framework, the department aims to educate specialists who recognize international commercial documents; apply delivery and payment methods in commercial transactions; manage procurement, production, and sales processes; understand customs legislation and apply it in practice; create, position, and promote global brands; conduct cost-benefit analyses; and manage business processes efficiently.

 

Career Opportunities

In today’s rapidly globalizing environment, whr almost every business has an international dimension, graduates of the Department of International Trade and Business have access to a broad range of career opportunities. Graduates of the programme are awarded the professional title of economist by the Council of Higher Education. They may work at al organizational levels in multinational corporations, international auditing firms, international banks and insurance companies, the finance and service sectors, international merger-and-acquisition and company-valuation consultancy firms, and domestic or international companies engaged in export and import activities. As graduates of the School of Applied Sciences, they are also considered equivalent to graduates of faculties and schools providing education in economics, business administration, international trade, finance, and banking and may benefit from the same legal and professional rights available to graduates of those programmes.

 

About the Courses

The curriculum of the Department of International Trade and Business consists of courses that provide knowledge applicable at every level of professional life. Major courses include Introduction to International Trade, International Business, International Marketing, International Transportation, Supply Chain Management, Banking and Foreign Exchange Transactions, the Use of Software Packages in International Trade, Customs Procedures, International Finance, Human Resources Management, Brand Management, Contemporary Management Approaches, and Sectoral Project Logistics Applications. In addition, Professional English courses are offered every semester to reinforce the general English learned in the preparatory programme. Students also slct Spanish, French, Russian, or German as an elective foreign language, with the aim of enabling them to communicate in at least two foreign languages by graduation.
